Iran is vast country that has different climatic zones. In each zone the indigenous people has their own sustainable noble solutions for confronting the climate difficulties. One of the most difficult climatic regions to live is hot and humid which is located at the Persian Gulf and Oman sea coast at the south of Iran. In this region Qeshm Island has more severe condition for comforting and Qeshm’s people have been seeking their own remedies for living by using the best of their region with the lowest technology over times.In this paper by doing survey on Qeshm climatic statics in 01 years, drawing and analyzing related graphs and data and also regarded to our own local experiences, using the wind circulation and shadow can be identified as the best and most optimum way to provide comfort condition in the island.vernacular architecture of Qeshm Island is also following these factors by using a semi-opened spaces as vital part of their architecture with indigenous appropriate materials like Sevend . This article is an attempt to understand Sevend as a locally available material for shading and ceiling in temporary and permanent buildings and structures in different dimensions of sustainable development (environmental, social and economic) and also describes the principals and methods of using it in the region. In addition architectural experience of the authors with Sevend will be illustrated and discussed.Unfortunately the recent construction in island has ignored this material and despite all the sustainable features that it has, this material and all of its related social and economical events is going to vanish. The authors believe that by Recognition and refresh the methods of using local materials such as Sevend we can approach to sustainable architecture in order to provide effective soloutions for contemporary constructions in this climatic zone.
