TEST TAKERS’ STRATEGIES WHILE TAKING A TEST

Recent researches have been in the realm of investigating different strategiesforeign language learners use in mastering the target language. This tendency stems from the fact that there is increasing attention towards learner centered curricula and learner-oriented instructional models of teaching foreign languages. It is assumed that by approaching the learning process from cognitive and affective perspectives (among others)’ researchers are able to analyze learning in naturalistic and classroom environments. Learning strategies are considered as various techniques and steps which are taken by learners in order to facilitate their language learning including acquisition, retrieval, and use of information. The present study investigates the ‘overt’ and ‘covert’ strategies learners take in order to achieve their goals in mastering a foreign language. In particular, the study investigates the Iranian university students’ strategies used by efficient readers on one hand and non-efficient readers on the other. Moreover, the study looks for the findings of a questionnair and an interview probing the issues.
