Evaluation Flame retardancy and Mechanical properties of polymeric coatings contain clay Nanoparticles

Recently, some types of clays especially Montmorillonite (MMT) have attracted great attentionin paint industry because of its nano meter sized layered structure, high cation exchange capacityand availability at low cost. In this paper, it was tried to introduce the structure, properties andsurface modification of clays; In addition, methods of dispersion of nano clays in coating and typesof nano clay coating were reviewed, finally the effect of MMT on flame retardancy and mechanicalproperties of polymeric coatings were also discussed.
