Physical analysis of flexible pipes under line loading

Centrifuge model tests have been performed on buried flexible pipe. Steel bars have been used to for line loading. The surcharge was applied at three different soil covered to pipe diameter ratio.C/D. Tests were carried out at a scale factor of 60g.Model pipes were instrumented in and out side of their walls at 5 different locations. soil used in this study was fine silica sand. line loading has more effect on the hoop stresses at the crown and shoulder of the model pipe for central loading . Off center loading resulted in a decrease in hoop stresses at the springing and haunch of the model pipes.
