A Survey on Research and Technologies of Persian Medical Language Models

In recent years, Large Language Models have played a significant role in developing medical applications; however, critical challenges such as hallucination, static knowledge, lack of transparency in answer sources, Inability to perform multi-step reasoning and limited computational resources have constrained their deployment in sensitive medical domains. While the majority of research in this field has focused on the English language, Persian-language research remains in the developmental stages. In this research, while reviewing global technologies, the evolution of Persian natural language processing models-from traditional architectures to large language models and then specialized Persian medical models has been analyzed so that existing research trends provide the necessary conceptual background for the development of more accurate and reliable medical question-answering systems in the Persian language.
