Russian Cultural Awareness in Foreign Language Education: A Linguocultural Approach to Developing Intercultural Competence

The relationship between language and culture represents one of the fundamental issues in contemporary foreign language education. Effective language learning requires not only knowledge of vocabulary and grammar but also an understanding of cultural meanings embedded in communication. This article examines the role of Russian cultural awareness in foreign language education from a linguocultural perspective. The study analyzes the connection between Russian language acquisition and cultural knowledge, focusing on historical, social, literary, and everyday cultural dimensions. Based on theoretical analysis of studies in linguoculturology, intercultural communication, and foreign language pedagogy, the article proposes a conceptual framework for integrating Russian cultural awareness into Russian language teaching. The findings indicate that cultural awareness enhances linguistic interpretation, develops pragmatic competence, and promotes more effective intercultural communication among learners.
