Improving of Special Truss Moment Frame STMF - Using Shear Panel

In this paper a new idea about Special Truss Moment Frame(STMF) was introduced and investigated. The idea is that shear panel as a ductile element is attached to STMF toenhance seismic behavior of system. Therefore, nonlinear behavior is confined only to the special segment, located at the mid-span or two ends of truss, while the other membersremind elastically. Limiting damage only to the special segments will significantly reducerepair costs compared to conventional building design. Results show that the systems dissipate energy applied to structure due to nonlinear behavior of shear panel. The shearpanel enhance the energy dissipation of system. But the thinner shear plate have a better performance. Also, the shear panel improves seismic factors. It can be seen the shear panel results the higher stiffness and no change the shear capacity and yielding displacement values
