چکیده مقاله:

This study presents a comparative numerical assessment of the structural behavior of single-span and two-span reinforced concrete tunnels under vertical loading conditions. As transportation infrastructure often requires flexible design solutions to accommodate varying spans, understanding the performance differences between these two configurations is essential for structural optimization and safety. Utilizing a three-dimensional finite element method (ABAQUS), the structural response of both tunnel types is analyzed, with specific attention given to the stress distribution patterns, deformation characteristics, and the load-bearing efficiency of the intermediate support in the two-span configuration. The numerical results indicate that while both tunnel systems exhibit similar primary stress concentrations at the crown, the inclusion of an intermediate support in the two-span design significantly alters the internal force redistribution and vertical displacement profiles. A comparative evaluation reveals distinct variations in structural performance, providing valuable insights into the mechanical benefits of multi-span configurations. These findings emphasize the necessity of configuration-specific structural analysis and offer a baseline for engineers to optimize tunnel design against vertical loads. This research serves as a fundamental step toward more complex dynamic analyses, including soil-structure interaction and extreme loading scenarios.
