چکیده مقاله:
This study presents a numerical investigation into the structural performance of a two-span reinforced concrete tunnel subjected to lateral loading. Building upon previous evaluations of vertical action, this research shifts focus to the horizontal force response, which is representative of lateral earth pressures and seismic-induced horizontal loads in underground environments. Using a three-dimensional finite element model developed in ABAQUS, the study analyzes an ۸-meter span two-span structure with a ۳۰-cm thick lining and an integrated intermediate support. The analysis specifically examines the redistribution of internal forces and the resulting stress concentrations when a lateral force is applied to the tunnel sidewalls. The findings reveal that lateral loading significantly alters the structural behavior compared to vertical scenarios, shifting critical zones toward the connection points between the sidewalls and the roof, as well as the base of the intermediate support. This research provides essential insights into the lateral stiffness of multi-span tunnels and establishes a critical framework for designing robust reinforcement strategies against combined horizontal and vertical pressures in future assessments.
