چکیده مقاله:
The structural configuration of continuous concrete bridges significantly impacts their mechanical response and serviceability under various loading conditions. This study presents a comparative numerical analysis of the structural behavior of two-span and three-span continuous concrete bridge decks, both featuring a ۳۰-cm thick slab and an ۸-meter span length. Using finite element analysis (FEA), the study investigates the effects of combined vertical point and distributed loads on the stress distribution and displacement characteristics of these two bridge systems. The models were developed in Abaqus, applying realistic material properties and boundary conditions to accurately represent the continuous nature of the decks over intermediate supports. The comparative results demonstrate distinct differences in structural performance between the two configurations. The findings indicate that the three-span system, while offering greater structural redundancy, exhibits higher peak Von Mises stresses and vertical displacements ( ) compared to the two-span configuration. This behavior is attributed to the complex redistribution of internal forces across the intermediate supports, highlighting the critical role of span arrangement in the design of continuous bridge decks. The study provides essential insights into the influence of structural continuity on load-carrying capacity, suggesting that precise reinforcement detailing is mandatory to manage the elevated stress concentrations observed in multi-span continuous systems. These results contribute to more informed decision-making in the design of sustainable and efficient concrete bridge infrastructures.
