چکیده مقاله:
This study presents a comparative finite element assessment of the structural response of single-span and three-span continuous concrete bridge decks with an ۸ m span length (per span) and a ۴۰ cm slab thickness subjected to a ۵۰ kN vertical uniformly distributed load. The numerical models were developed in Abaqus with consistent material properties and mesh strategy to ensure a reliable comparison between the determinate (simply supported) and indeterminate (continuous) configurations. The analysis focuses on key response indicators, including Von Mises stress distribution and maximum vertical displacement ( ), to quantify the influence of structural continuity on load transfer mechanisms. The results demonstrate that continuity significantly modifies the internal force distribution and deformation pattern relative to the single-span system, highlighting the role of intermediate supports and moment redistribution in continuous decks. The findings provide practical insights for selecting appropriate bridge configurations for short-span applications and emphasize the importance of serviceability control and reinforcement detailing—particularly in regions where redistributed moments may govern the design under distributed loading.
