چکیده مقاله:
This paper presents a comparative finite element analysis (FEA) of the structural response of single-span and two-span continuous concrete bridge decks, both featuring a ۵۰-cm thickness and an ۸-meter span configuration. The primary objective is to evaluate the mechanical behavior—specifically stress distribution and vertical displacement—under combined vertical loading consisting of a ۵۰ kN/m distributed load and a ۲۰۰ kN concentrated load at mid-span. By employing high-fidelity numerical modeling, the study investigates the effects of structural continuity on the performance of the bridge deck. The results demonstrate that while the two-span continuous system provides enhanced structural redundancy, it simultaneously experiences significantly higher maximum Von Mises stress levels ( Pa) and greater vertical displacements ( m) compared to the single-span configuration (max stress: Pa; max displacement: m). These findings provide critical insights into the design trade-offs between determinate single-span and indeterminate continuous bridge systems, highlighting the necessity for refined reinforcement detailing in continuous slabs to manage increased stress concentrations effectively.
