چکیده مقاله:
This study investigates the structural behavior of a four-span Parker truss bridge subjected to horizontal loading in the presence of a single damaged member. The variable-depth geometry of the Parker configuration, while offering enhanced stiffness under vertical actions, exhibits distinct lateral response characteristics when exposed to asymmetric horizontal forces. To assess these effects, a detailed finite element model was developed, incorporating localized stiffness reduction to simulate member damage realistically. The analysis focuses on lateral displacements, stress redistribution patterns, and the influence of damage on global stability. Results indicate that the presence of a weakened member significantly alters the internal force flow, intensifying stress concentrations in adjacent components and reducing the overall lateral stiffness of the system. These findings highlight the sensitivity of variable-depth truss systems to localized degradation and emphasize the importance of damage-informed assessment strategies for improving the safety and resilience of Parker truss bridges subjected to horizontal loads.
