چکیده مقاله:

This study presents a comparative analysis of the structural behavior of a four-span Parker truss bridge subjected to vertical loads, focusing on the impact of a single damaged member. The bridge features a variable-depth geometry designed to optimize stiffness and load distribution. Using finite element modeling in Abaqus, the damage was simulated by reducing the stiffness of one diagonal member, representing a typical structural degradation scenario. The results demonstrate that the presence of the damaged member notably affects the bridge’s vertical displacement and stress distribution patterns, leading to localized stress concentrations and reduced overall stiffness. Despite these effects, the variable-depth design enhances the structural resilience, maintaining adequate performance under critical vertical loading conditions. These findings highlight the necessity of timely damage detection and maintenance strategies in truss bridges to ensure structural safety and longevity.
