With the rapid expansion of digital interactions, traditional identity management systems have lost their efficacy in preserving privacy due to centralization and vulnerability to cyberattacks. The primary objective of this research is to elucidate the position and role of Blockchain-based Identity as a fundamental solution for digital identity security and data ownership. The research methodology of this study is review-based and library-driven, which explores various dimensions of this technology by examining technical documents, peer-reviewed scientific articles, and analyzing leading platforms. The findings derived from the literature analysis indicate that the Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) model, by utilizing Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs) and Verifiable Credentials (VCs), eliminates single points of failure and significantly enhances the security of authentication layers through advanced cryptography and integration with biometric features (such as FaceNet); such that identification accuracy in hybrid models reaches ۹۸%. Finally, this research concludes that despite scalability and regulatory challenges, blockchain-based identity (due to its characteristics of immutability and transparency) will serve as the core infrastructure for future digital civilization and the decentralized internet, restoring trust to sensitive domains such as e-government, healthcare, and banking.
