چکیده مقاله:

Parvovirus enteritis is one of the most common viral infections of the gastrointestinal tract in dogs worldwide. This virus also affects other organs such as the pancreas. The aim of the present study was to investigate selected biochemical changes possibly associated with pancreatic involvement in dogs affected by parvovirus enteritis. In this study, thirty dogs with parvovirus (confirmed by an immunochromatographic diagnostic kit) and thirty clinically healthy dogs were randomly selected. Blood samples were then collected from the cephalic or saphenous vein, and biochemical parameters (lipase, amylase, glucose, triglycerides, total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, VLDL, ALP, AST, ALT, BUN, and Scr) were measured using an autoanalyzer. The results showed that the mean levels of lipase and amylase in the affected dogs were significantly higher than those in the control group, at ۶۶.۵۶ IU/L and ۰.۱۸۲ IU/L, respectively (P <۰.۰۵). The mean values recorded for LDL, VLDL, and ALP were ۱۱۷.۲۳ mg/dl, ۲۸.۱۷ mg/dl, and ۳۲۴.۸۰ IU/L respectively, compared to ۱۰۶.۴۳ mg/dl, ۲۱.۱۲ mg/dl, and ۶۴.۹۵ IU/L in thecontrol group. These differences were also statistically significant (P < ۰.۰۵). Although the mean glucose, triglyceride, cholesterol, HDL, ALT, and AST values were higher in the patient group than in the control group, these differences were not statistically significant (P ˃ ۰.۰۵). Also, the mean BUN and serum creatinine levels were lower in the patient group than in the control group; however, these differences were not statistically significant (P ˃ ۰.۰۵). In conclusion, hyperlipasemia, hyperamylasemia, and hyperlipidemia are associated with acute parvovirus enteritis, possibly due to pancreatic alterations in affected dogs.
