Introduction: Underlying cardiovascular diseases are associated with an increased risk of mortality from COVID-۱۹. However, studies that simultaneously examine pulmonary involvement, underlying conditions, clinical symptoms, and laboratory markers in this high-risk group, particularly within the Iranian population, are limited. This study aimed to examine the relationship between these factors and mortality and recovery rates among cardiovascular patients with COVID-۱۹.Methods: In this retrospective cross-sectional analytical study, we reviewed the clinical records of ۲۵۹ cardiovascular patients with
COVID-۱۹ who were hospitalized at Taleghani Hospital in Abadan during the first half of the year ۱۴۰۰ in the Iranian calendar. We used a census method to extract demographic characteristics, clinical details, vital signs, laboratory findings, and the percentage of pulmonary involvement based on CT scans. We then analyzed their association with the final outcomes (discharge with recovery or death) using chi-square tests, Mann-Whitney U tests, and both univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses. Results: The mean age of the patients was ۶۰.۶ ± ۲۷.۱۵ years, with ۵۶% being male. The mortality rate was ۴۵.۶% (n=۱۱۸). In the univariate analysis, dyspnea upon admission and lower oxygen saturation were associated with increased mortality. The multivariate analysis revealed that severe pulmonary involvement on CT (adjusted odds ratio = ۱۹۹.۷), a history of kidney disease (OR = ۵.۸), INR (OR = ۲.۱), SGOT (OR = ۱.۸), and LDH (OR = ۱.۵) were all independently associated with higher mortality. Age, gender, and blood pressure did not show significant associations. The final model exhibited good discriminatory power (AUC = ۰.۸۸۸).Conclusion: Cardiovascular patients with
COVID-۱۹ experience a high mortality rate, with the percentage of pulmonary involvement on CT scans being the strongest independent predictor of adverse outcomes. A simultaneous assessment of pulmonary involvement, along with renal, hepatic, and coagulation markers, can help stratify clinical risk in these patientsKeywords: Include ۴ to ۶ keywords separated by commas, written in Times New Roman, ۱۱pt, on a single line following the abstract.
