چکیده مقاله:
This article examines the theological and missional significance of Jeremiah ۲۹:۷ within the context of religious pluralism in Indonesia. The evangelical Christian community in Indonesia faces the challenge of maintaining faith integrity while engaging constructively with a multi-religious society marked by cultural, ethnic, and political diversity. Drawing on contextual theology, public theology, and interreligious dialogue frameworks, this study argues that Jeremiah ۲۹:۷ provides a prophetic model for faithful presence and active participation in societal welfare without compromising doctrinal commitments. The verse calls believers to seek the peace and prosperity of the city, emphasizing shalom-centered engagement as a spiritual, ethical, and missional imperative. By employing participatory and interdisciplinary methodological approaches, including insights from sociology, anthropology, and political science, this study highlights the importance of understanding local social realities, addressing structural violence, and promoting inclusive practices in public life. The research further discusses practical missional pathways, such as interfaith collaboration in social services, education, disaster response, and advocacy, while identifying potential ethical pitfalls, including domination, paternalism, and co-optation by unjust systems. In addition, the article underscores the role of Christian religious education in fostering theological maturity, ethical discernment, and empathy among learners, equipping them to embody transformative discipleship in pluralistic contexts. Finally, the study situates the local Indonesian experience within a broader global vision of shalom, suggesting that the principles of Jeremiah ۲۹:۷ are applicable for promoting peace, justice, and collaborative engagement across diverse cultural and religious settings. By integrating scriptural fidelity with contextual awareness, the article demonstrates how evangelical Christians can faithfully witness, serve, and contribute to the common good in both local and global spheres.
