چکیده مقاله:
This study explores the potential of biochar derived from shrimp shells modified with starch/CoFe۲O۴ nanoparticles for the adsorption of arsenic (III) ions from aqueous environments. Several characterization techniques, including FT-IR, SEM, TEM, and pHPZC analysis, were employed. The adsorption process was best described by the Langmuir isotherm and pseudo-second-order kinetic models, indicating monolayer adsorption and chemisorption-dominated interactions. The maximum adsorption capacity was determined to be ۶۳.۳ mg/g at ۲۵ °C. Investigations revealed the adsorption process to be exothermic and spontaneous through thermodynamic parameter studies. The practical applicability shows the removal of As(III) ions from water samples (%R۲ > ۹۴.۰%), and efficiency decreased with increasing salt concentration. Furthermore, the adsorbent can be used for up to three consecutive adsorption–desorption cycles with sufficient removal efficiency. The findings highlight that shrimp shell-derived biochar modified by starch/CoFe۲O۴ nanoparticles is an Eco-friendly adsorbent for the effective removal of arsenic (III) from contaminated water sources.
