چکیده مقاله:
This study investigates the role of religions in blending nature and architecture within the temples of early civilizations, highlighting how these integrations mirror spiritual and cosmological perspectives. Adopting a qualitative approach through a historical-analytical method, the research delves into the symbolic representation of natural elements—such as mountains, rivers, trees, and the sun—in temple design. It also examines the influence of religious beliefs on the location and orientation of these structures, along with shared architectural principles across various cultures. Data was collected through an exhaustive review of literature in architectural history, theology, and philosophy.Qualitative content analysis and logical reasoning were employed to uncover key concepts like "Sophia Perennis," "religious worldviews," and "sacred natural elements," evaluating their connections to architectural patterns in civilizations such as Egypt, Mesopotamia, Hinduism, Greece, and Shinto Japan. The theoretical framework of Sophia Perennis guided the interpretation of the findings, positing that a common spiritual essence underlies diverse religious expressions and architectural forms. The analysis reveals that temples served as mediators between humanity and the divine, utilizing natural symbols to express cosmic order and spiritual values. Results indicate that mountains were often emulated in architectural forms (e.g., pyramids, ziggurats), while rivers influenced temple placement, and solar alignments linked earthly structures with celestial movements. This research enhances our understanding of the interplay between religion, nature, and architecture, emphasizing temples as cultural expressions of ecological awareness and spiritual unity.
