چکیده مقاله:
This article reconstructs the economic, political, and cultural trajectory of the Gabriel (Ḥanna) family from ۱۷۹۸ to ۲۰۲۵. Using three unpublished ledgers, Ottoman‑era newspapers, Austrian mining archives, and recent heritage litigation surrounding Qasr Barsoum (۲۰۲۱‑۲۵), it identifies three survival pivots: (۱) an unpaid Napoleonic loan; (۲) profits from the American Civil‑War cotton boom; and (۳) early twentieth‑century magnesite stakes that hedged against Egypt’s ۱۹۵۲ land reform. The narrative closes with the self‑financed tech career of descendant John Gabriel, whose Silicon Valley EV infrastructure start‑up channels new capital back into the family’s Cairo heritage site.
