چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: Female urethral lesions are relatively common and usually benign, often diagnosed during routine genital examination. Squamous cell papilloma (SCP) of the female urethra is, however, an exceptionally rare benign lesion that typically arises from the distal or mid-urethra. Due to its rarity, clinical significance, etiology, and long-term outcomes remain poorly defined.Case presentation: We report two postmenopausal women with isolated urethral SCP. A ۶۰-year-old presented with obstructive urinary symptoms, and examination revealed a painless, firm ۱.۵ × ۲ cm mid-urethral mass. The second, a ۶۵-year-old, had a tender, friable, and bleeding ۲ × ۲ cm mass with a thrombosed base. Both underwent cysto-urethroscopy and excisional biopsy under spinal anesthesia. Histopathology confirmed squamous cell papilloma. Follow-up for at least six months showed no recurrence, urethral stricture, incontinence, or fistula formation. Conclusion: Although female urethral SCP is benign and has a low probability of recurrence or malignant transformation, its clinical presentation may mimic other urethral pathologies. Accurate diagnosis requires histopathological confirmation. Given the limited data and possible overlap of risk factors with urethral carcinoma, regular follow-up with clinical examination and surveillance is recommended.
