چکیده مقاله:
This study investigates the impact of the Korean Wave (Hallyu) on students in Asia, with a focus on Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, and China. Hallyu is conceptualized as a glocalized phenomenon that shapes youth culture through lifestyle choices, consumer behaviors, and educational motivations. Drawing on empirical data, fan perspectives, and media analysis, the research demonstrates that although local cultures influence the reception of Hallyu, its core impact remains consistent across diverse contexts. The findings indicate that youth engagement with Hallyu includes adopting K-pop aesthetics, internalizing K-drama values, and forming transnational communities. Additionally, emotional investment in Hallyu content stimulates consumer markets for merchandise, beauty products, and tourism, a trend amplified by active social media participation. A significant empirical finding is the identification of a two-stage pattern in language acquisition: initial interest in Korean entertainment often develops into formal language study, which is frequently associated with aspirations for careers in Korea’s technology and entertainment sectors. The study further identifies regional variations, such as the predominance of career motivations in Singapore and cultural curiosity in other national contexts, highlighting Hallyu’s multifaceted influence on Asian youth.
