Strategic Foresight for Smart Sports Organizations Scenario Planning for AI-Driven Governance in the Horizon ۲۰۳۵–۲۰۴۰

The rapid integration of artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and advanced analytics into professional sports is fundamentally reshaping organizational governance, decision-making, and strategic management. Yet most sports organizations remain reactive rather than anticipatory in their approach to technological disruption. This study employs a rigorous mixed-methods strategic foresight design combining horizon scanning, a two-round Delphi process with ۲۸ international experts, and formal scenario planning to explore plausible futures of AI-driven governance in smart sports organizations over the ۲۰۳۵–۲۰۴۰ horizon. Four distinct scenarios are developed along the critical axes of AI decision autonomy and ethical-regulatory governance strength: Ethical Intelligence, Platform Dominance, Regulated Caution, and Fragmented Drift. Findings reveal that data ownership, algorithmic transparency, and institutional foresight capacity emerge as the highest-priority strategic levers. The paper concludes with a sequenced intervention roadmap and actionable recommendations for clubs, federations, and policymakers seeking to shape rather than merely adapt to the emerging intelligent sports ecosystem.
