Numerical analysis of aerodynamic characteristics of a slotted airfoil in different configurations

The purpose of optimizing airfoil performance is to enhance the efficiency of airfoils by reducing the drag force and increasing the lift-to-drag ratio. This study worked on a straight slotted airfoil NACA ۰۰۱۲ against various angles of attack (AoAs) on different conditions. ۵ modified NACA ۰۰۱۲ with slot designed and computationally the impact of position, angle and width of slots was compared with simple NACA ۰۰۱۲. The results illustrated that the modified geometries show enhanced performance at high AoAs. For example, At an AoA of ۱۵°, the slotted airfoil achieved an increase of more than ۱۳% in the CL/CD ratio.
