Integrating Sustainability and Technology: The Role of Vertical Agriculture in Tackling the Water Crisis

Water scarcity constitutes a significant environmental and socio-economic challenge for Iran in the ۲۱st century. This review evaluates the potential of vertical agriculture (VA) as a sustainable solution to mitigate this escalating crisis. It synthesizes recent research on the water efficiency of vertical farming, assesses the feasibility of implementation in Iranian contexts, and discusses challenges related to infrastructure, policy, and public perception. The paper concludes with recommendations for integrating VA into Iran's climate adaptation and urban food policy frameworks.
