Multi-layer coatings find extensive applications across various industries, such as optics, electronics, aerospace, automotive, and biomedicine. In the field of optics, they play a crucial role in reducing reflectance, leading to the development of anti-reflective coatings for lenses, mirrors, and displays. Manipulating the number of layers in multi-layer coatings allows for diverse outcomes, which is of great importance in optimizing their applications. By using Fresnel Equations and transfer matrices, we explored the impact of increasing layers on reducing the reflectance of an object under identical conditions. Theoretical calculations of the refractive indices of different materials were performed to determine the minimum reflectance and to identify suitable materials or alloys with optimal refractive indices for achieving minimal reflection in practical applications. Additionally, we considered the angle of incidence and polarization. Furthermore, we selected titanium as the sample metal substrate to calculate the minimum reflectance. Our findings indicate that the addition of extra layers does not bring about a significant change in the minimum reflection. Consequently, increasing the number of layers does not meaningfully enhance the efficiency of the anti-reflection coating.
