چکیده مقاله:

Language style is defined as the language use that reflects different social contexts, audiences, or purposes. These variations are not just about choosing different words but involve changes in tone, formality, and the overall structure of communication. People use different language styles according to their social identity, their relationship with their interlocutors, and the specific situational demands they face. This research aims to analyze the language styles used by the characters in "Art" based on Martin Joos's theory of language styles. The researcher used a descriptive qualitative method in which the data was collected from the transcripts of the play in the form of ۶۰ dialogues from the ۳ characters. Then the researcher classified them based on Martin Joos's theory to find the most dominant style. The results have revealed ۲ things ۱. How language style choice can reflect a person's social background and influence the context of communication. ۲. The dominant style in the play Is casual ۲۹ cases (۴۸.۳۳%) followed by consultative style ۱۷ cases (۲۸.۳۳%), formal style ۱۲ cases (۲۰%), intimate style ۲ cases (۳.۳۳%), and frozen style ۰ cases (۰%).
