چکیده مقاله:

Colibacillosis is one of the most economically important diseases of poultry industry around the world. Trimethoprim + Sulfadimethoxine is a broad-spectrum synthetic antibacterial agent that can be used for treatment of colibacillosis. This study was conducted to compare the clinical efficacy of two commercial oral solution of Trimethoprim + Sulfadimethoxine against colibacillosis in a broiler flock. A broiler farm in Abyek County, featuring two poultry houses, was selected for the study; ۹,۵۰۰ day-old chicks were placed in each house. Management, nutritional, health, and vaccination protocols were identical for both houses. Upon observing mortality and clinical signs of colibacillosis late in the fourth week, samples were collected and sent to the laboratory for bacterial isolation and antibiogram testing. Based on the susceptibility profile of the Escherichia coli isolates, the chicks in the first house were administered "Trimetoxin (Trimethoprim ۴% + Sodium Sulfadimethoxine ۲۰%)" oral solution (Behrood Atrak Pharmaceutical Company, Iran) via their drinking water at a dilution of ۱:۱,۰۰۰ for five days, between the ages of ۲۸ and ۳۲ days. In the second house, the chicks also received an oral solution containing “۲۰% sulfadimethoxine and ۴% trimethoprim” (Kimiafam, Iran) in their drinking water at a ۱:۱۰۰۰ dilution for five days, between the ages of ۲۸ and ۳۲ days. Necropsies were performed on a number of birds that died during the trial period, and the relevant findings and mortality data were recorded for both houses. Seventy chicks from each house were weighed weekly from day ۱ to day ۴۲. Feed intake and the final feed conversion ratio were calculated for both houses at the end of the period. The results regarding each of the aforementioned parameters were analyzed and compared between the two houses using appropriate statistical methods. Apart from a general outbreak of colibacillosis, the flock did not encounter any major issues during the study. The mortality rate in house ۱ (۱.۴%) was lower than in house ۲ (۳.۴%). Mortality during the first week consisted primarily of culls. Subsequent losses were attributed to sudden death, culling, or colibacillosis. Mean body weights of the chicks from both houses at various ages were compared using SPSS software (version ۱۰) and the Independent-Samples T-test; no statistically significant differences were observed. Feed conversion ratios in the two houses did not differ significantly by the end of the trial. Based on the results of the farm trial, there appears to be no significant difference in performance between the two commercial Trimethoprim + Sulfadimethoxine oral solution of Behrood Atrak and Kimiafam Companies. Therefore, both antibacterial compounds can be used in poultry flocks to treat colibacillosis
