This paper presents a comprehensive performance evaluation of ergodic channel capacity for SISO, SIMO, MISO, and MIMO systems under generalized fading environments, including Rayleigh, Rician, and Nakagami-m fading models. Analytical expressions for ergodic capacity are derived based on the eigenvalue distribution of channel matrices, and extensive Monte Carlo simulations are conducted to assess system performance across various SNR levels and channel parameters. The results demonstrate that MIMO configuration significantly outperforms other architectures by exploiting both diversity and spatial multiplexing gains. However, the capacity advantage of MIMO diminishes under strong line-of-sight conditions, where the Rician K-factor is high. Additionally, receive diversity (SIMO) shows superior performance compared to transmit diversity (MISO) due to perfect channel knowledge at the receiver. The findings provide practical insights for selecting optimal antenna configurations tailored to specific propagation environments, contributing to the efficient design of next-generation wireless networks
