چکیده مقاله:

This article, conducted as a systematic literature review, examines and compares the potential of popular social media platforms—Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and Twitter—as tools for English language learning. By synthesizing findings from previous studies, this research analyzes how the distinct features of each platform impact language acquisition and determines their relative advantages in developing various language skills. The review reveals that each platform offers unique educational benefits: Instagram is particularly effective for visual vocabulary acquisition and enhancing communication skills due to its focus on visual content. YouTube's rich video format contributes significantly to improving listening comprehension and providing comprehensive educational materials. TikTok, with its short video format, is found to be efficient in enhancing rapid communication skills and pronunciation. Finally, Twitter facilitates concise textual interactions and the development of cultural competence. The collective findings indicate that while each platform has unique strengths, they all contribute to increasing learner motivation and providing valuable opportunities for informal and autonomous language learning. This research serves as a guide for learners, educators, and content creators to effectively leverage the potential of social media for language teaching and learning.
