چکیده مقاله:

Compression garments, including compression tops, socks, and sleeves, are elastic coverings crafted from materials such as elastane and nylon. They are increasingly used in sports biomechanics for improving venous return, reducing muscle fatigue, and enhancing recovery. Nevertheless, due to inherent limitations in experimental methodologies, achieving precise control over the underlying mechanisms has proven difficult, resulting in inconsistencies in the findings reported. To address this gap, we developed a three-dimensional finite element model of a human leg by integrating solid mechanics solvers (Abaqus) with computational fluid dynamics solvers (ANSYS). This coupled approach enabled a detailed fluid-solid interaction analysis of a graduated calf compression sleeve on venous blood flow. The simulation specifically examined the impact of different pressure classes, leg positioning (standing, supine with head or legs elevated), and the variable of age under resting conditions. The results show a favorable correlation with experimental data and may be beneficial in the optimal design of sports compression garments.
