Renewable energies regarded as the optimal solution to address the escalating energy demands. Among the renewable energy sources, wind energy has emerged as one of the most rapidly expanding, utilized globally for electricity generation. However, cost of operation and maintenance has been always one of the main challenges. In the context of the wind industry, the implementation of a comprehensive and effective condition monitoring system is paramount to minimize maintenance expenditures and enhance reliability. In this study, a pragmatic methodology proposed that uses SCADA data collected during normal state of an operating wind turbine for the purpose condition monitoring in the monitoring state. A unique feature of the proposed methodology is that it can distinguish between the sensor faults and the component faults. This means that the proposed could prevent the occurrence of false alarms during condition monitoring which is an important challenge in wind turbines operation and maintenance.
