چکیده مقاله:

Given the challenges in conventional wind turbine airfoil design, including limitations of parameterization methods and optimization algorithms, this research explores the potential of leveraging aerodynamic mechanisms from marine life to enhance wind turbine blade performance. To this end, cross-sections of fins and wings from ۱۲ marine species, including dolphins, whales, rays, and tuna, were selected as initial prototypes and analyzed using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and the k−kl−ω turbulence model. Simulation results revealed that the cross-section derived from the Atlantic White-sided Dolphin exhibits superior performance compared to conventional industrial airfoils (e.g., FFA-W۳-۳۳۰), with a maximum lift coefficient of ۲.۷۵. This profile not only demonstrates remarkable performance at low angles of attack but also maintains a high lift coefficient across a wide range of attack angles, a highly desirable characteristic for wind turbines under variable operational conditions. This study suggests that drawing inspiration from nature can offer novel solutions to overcome the limitations of conventional airfoil design methods.
