چکیده مقاله:

It is an important refining unit that transforms straight-run naphtha into high octane reformate and hydrogen to be used in the downstream departments. There are two main configurations, semi-regenerative (SR) and continuous catalyst regeneration (CCR) of which CCR tends to be more efficient and reliable in operation. This paper appraises the likelihood of substituting the SR units at Basrah refinery with CCR technology by simulating with the Aspen HYSYS ۱۲.۱. Three cases were discussed: Case ۱ involves a scenario of the current operation of the SR in Basrah refinery, Case ۲ involves a CCR unit with the same Basrah feedstock and operating conditions, and Case ۳ involves a CCR system with the Arak Shazand design but using Basrah refinery feed properties. The findings indicate that Case ۱ had a production of ۳۵.۴ m۳/h, research octane number (RON) and hydrogen yield of ۳.۴۵, ۱۰۳ and ۳۵.۴ respectfully Case ۲ had a production of ۳۶.۴ m۳/h, ۱۱۳.۳ and hydrogen yield of ۳.۵۱ respectively and Case ۳ ۶۶.۱ m۳/h, ۱۱۴.۵ and ۴.۱۷ respectively. Economical evaluation indicates that Cases ۱, ۲ and ۳ have an annual revenue of ۱۰۴.۷, ۱۴۳.۵ and ۲۶۰.۶ million of $/year, which translate to profit gain of ۳۸.۹ and ۱۵۵.۹ million of $/year in Case scenario of CCR, and increased hydrogen production. These findings indicate that the implementation of CCR technology can significantly improve the quality of reformate, hydrogen production and duration of operation at Basrah refinery, which contributes to modernization and compatibility with the international refining standards.
