The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Supporting English Language Teachers

Artificial intelligence (AI) has rapidly transformed many aspects of modern society, including the field of education. In recent years, AI technologies have increasingly been used to support teaching and learning processes, particularly in language education. English language teachers face numerous challenges such as addressing diverse learner needs, providing individualized feedback, and maintaining student engagement. AI-powered tools offer potential solutions by enabling personalized learning experiences, automated assessment, and intelligent tutoring systems. This paper explores the role of artificial intelligence in supporting English language teachers and enhancing language learning outcomes. It examines the benefits of AI integration in English language education, including personalized learning, automated feedback, and improved classroom management. In addition, the paper discusses the pedagogical, ethical, and institutional challenges associated with AI implementation, such as algorithmic bias, overreliance on technology, academic integrity concerns, teacher preparedness, and data privacy. Finally, the study highlights future directions for AI-supported language education and emphasizes the importance of maintaining the central role of teachers in the learning process.
