Nursing Care in Nosocomial Dengue: A One Health Approach

Objective: Nosocomial dengue is an emerging concern in healthcare settings, particularly in tropical and subtropical regions. It poses significant risks to patients, healthcare workers, and the hospital environment. This narrative review aimed to explore the role of nursing care in managing nosocomial dengue and discuss its integration within the One Health framework. Methods: A narrative literature review was conducted in ۲۰۲۵. Databases, including MEDLINE, EMBASE, Google Scholar, and other relevant sources, were searched for studies published between ۲۰۲۰ and ۲۰۲۵. After screening and quality appraisal, ۲۱ studies met the inclusion criteria for this narrative review. A thematic analysis was applied to organize, extract, and categorize the main findings into overarching themes. Results: Five major themes were identified from the reviewed studies: infection prevention and control measures in hospital settings; patient and community education; interdisciplinary and One Health collaboration; challenges and barriers to implementation; and future directions and research needs. These themes highlight the central role of nurses in both clinical management and preventive strategies for nosocomial dengue. Conclusion: This review underscores the critical and actionable role of nursing care in mitigating nosocomial dengue. Implementing evidence-based interventions, particularly robust infection control practices, proactive patient education, and strengthened interdisciplinary collaboration, is essential for a comprehensive One Health approach to reduce hospital-acquired dengue burden.
