A Model for Improving the Elite Sports Development System in Iran

Talent development is influenced by numerous factors, including sociological and psychological characteristics, that shape the growth of athletic potential.Moreover, talent development requires continuous monitoring and the use of key performance indicators to guide ongoing improvement and strengthen talent identification strategies talent identification strategies, ultimately supporting sustainable sports development. Therefore, this study aims to propose a model for improving the elite sports development system in Iran. Method: This study is applied-developmental in terms of purpose and adopts a quantitative research approach. The research employs simulation techniques. Initially, a literature review was conducted to identify the key factors involved in improving the elite sports development system in Iran were identified. To enhance generalizability and validate the model, agent-based modeling was employed, and finally, the proposed research model was developed and evaluated. Findings: The study identified eight main agent types: the "Ministry of Sports and Youth," "Sports Federations," "Sports Clubs," "Financial Sponsors," "Municipal Sports Organizations," "Athletes," "Media," and the "National Olympic and Paralympic Committee." Conclusion: the results indicate that public access to sports facilities plays a critical role. Increasing per capita access to sports spaces enhances public interest in sports participation and encourages individuals to pursue professional athletic careers. These findings provide a comprehensive model for improving the elite sports development system in Iran.
