Approach: a Model Together with the Environment

Urbanization presents significant challenges to the integration of natural elements in city landscapes, particularly in rapidly developing regions like Kermanshah, Iran. This study proposes a biophilic landscape design model that emphasizes harmonious coexistence with nature, aimed at enhancing the urban environment and promoting well-being among residents. The model incorporates key biophilic principles, such as the use of native plants, green corridors, water features, and sustainable materials, to foster a deeper connection between people and their surroundings. By integrating community gardens and educational spaces, the model encourages community engagement and environmental stewardship. Ultimately, this approach not only enriches the aesthetic and ecological value of Kermanshah but also serves as a framework for other urban centers seeking to reconnect their inhabitants with the natural world. The findings underscore the potential of biophilic design to transform urban landscapes into vibrant, sustainable environments that promote both biodiversity and quality of life.
