چکیده مقاله:
In recent decades, student housing has emerged as a critical yet underexplored component of higher education infrastructure, particularly in contexts where a large proportion of students are non-local and dependent on university-provided accommodation. In Iran, prevailing dormitory models characterized by horizontal development, shared-room occupancy, and limited managerial integration have become increasingly misaligned with contemporary academic, spatial, and psychological demands. This paper proposes a comprehensive and interdisciplinary conceptual model for vertical, single-occupancy, fully equipped student housing towers located within Iranian university campuses. Drawing on architectural and urban planning principles, environmental psychology, and higher education management, the study reconceptualizes student housing as an active institutional instrument within the academic ecosystem rather than a passive residential service. The proposed model emphasizes spatial hierarchy, privacy, cognitive concentration, and soft behavioral governance, supported by integrated managerial and technological frameworks. Furthermore, the paper explores the preliminary feasibility of implementing this model under cost-minimization assumptions enabled by humanitarian and public funding, alongside modular construction and vertical development strategies. The findings suggest that vertical single-occupancy student housing can simultaneously address land constraints, enhance academic focus and well-being, and improve institutional efficiency. The study concludes that rethinking student housing as cognitive and managerial infrastructure is essential for responding to the current challenges facing Iranian higher education.
