Climatic function of the Central Courtyard in Residential Architecture

The central courtyard is one of the valuable patterns of Iranian architecture, which has been able to provide the comfort conditions of residents in a desirable way in different climates, including hot-arid climates, cold and mountainous, even hot and humid climates. In addition to providing comfort conditions, this pattern has played an important role in preserving the environment, maintaining privacy, and security of residents. The present study has been investigated in an analytical-descriptive manner. The results of the study indicate that they act like an intelligent element in response to environmental conditions.
