چکیده مقاله:
Lipids are not merely structural components of cellular membranes; they are dynamic signaling molecules, energy reservoirs, and crucial players in plant development and environmental adaptation. While genomics and proteomics have provided extensive insights into plant biology, the “lipidome”—the complete set of lipids within a biological system—remains an understudied layer of complexity. This review explores the emerging field of plant lipidomics, detailing the advanced analytical platforms, such as Mass Spectrometry (MS)-based approaches, used to characterize lipid diversity. We discuss the role of lipids in membrane remodeling, signal transduction, and defense mechanisms against biotic and abiotic stresses. Finally, we highlight how integrating lipidomics with other “omics” technologies provides a holistic view of plant metabolic networks, paving the way for improved crop resilience and bioengineering.
