چکیده مقاله:

Background & Objective: Teenage girls in juvenile detention centers deal with issues negatively affecting their quality of life, especially those brought on by exposure to domestic abuse. The present study was conducted with aim of examining the psychology and social repercussions for teenage girls in juvenile detention facilities with a history of domestic abuse.Materials & Methods: This descriptive and analytical study was carried out between April ۱۴, ۲۰۲۵, and June ۲۸, ۲۰۲۵. One hundred teenage girls between the ages of ۱۲ and ۱۷ were chosen from juvenile detention facilities as a purposive sample. Every participant had a history of non-violent offenses and a verified history of domestic abuse. In-depth, semi-structured interviews were used to supplement structured questionnaires, such as the WHOQOL-BREF scale. Thematic analysis was used to look at the qualitative interview transcripts. Results: According to the analysis, the participants' prevalence of trauma was noticeably high. In particular, ۶۵% of respondents said they had experienced physical abuse, and ۷۰% said they had experienced emotional abuse. Psychological distress was markedly elevated with high mean ratings for anxiety (۴.۲), depression (۴.۱), and sleep difficulties (۳.۹). Feelings of social isolation, depression, and anxiety were significantly correlated with participants' perceptions of safety in the detention facility. The characteristics of loneliness, depression, and anxiety were found to be strongly positively correlated. Receiving psychological support was found to be statistically significantly correlated (P=۰.۰۰۱) with having more faith in the staff. Conclusion: Sleep disturbances and psychological disorders like depression and anxiety seem to be important factors contributing to a person's psychological distress. Therefore, it is evident that staff members require specialized training programs in addition to stricter safety regulations, as evidenced by the relatively low perceptions of safety and trust within the institution.
