A Novel Phenol Absorptive Agent Based on Zeolite as an Aluminum-Coated Agent: Synthesis and Characterization

چکیده مقاله:

The widely used phenolic compounds in industry are categorized as priority pollutants due to their toxic and distractive activities. In this regard, the current work was conducted to synthesize an aluminum-coated zeolite (ACZ) for adsorbing for efficiently adsorbing the phenol component from an aqueous solution. Accordingly, characterization techniques, including the Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used. Moreover, the sorption kinetics, pseudo-first and pseudo-second order reaction equations as well as the kinetic models rate constants were determined to analyze the intraparticle diffusion. The Freundlich, Langmuir, Temkin, and Dubinin–Radushkevich models were also used for testing the equilibrium isotherms of phenol adsorption. The analysis was carried out by a batch reactor in terms of phenol initial concentration, adsorbent dose, different pH values, and contact time. The results showed a significant effect on the studied parameters. Additionally, the results illustrated that the pseudo-second order models were a better fit with the adsorption kinetic data. The Langmuir isotherm equation was appropriate for the equilibrium data revealing the monolayer sorption capacity of phenol at the ACZ with a sorption capacity of ۴۴ mg/g. Based on the results, the investigated ACZ was an appropriate adsorbent for approaching the phenol removal processes from the aqueous solutions such as wastewaters.
