In this study, the performance of a combined system consisting of a vapor compression chiller and a closed-circuit cooling tower was investigated under different climatic conditions across Iran. Six cities with diverse weather patterns Bandar Abbas, Kerman, Mashhad, Tehran, Tabriz, and Arak were selected as case studies. The main objective is to evaluate the impact of climate conditions and the use of closed-circuit cooling towers on the energy and water consumption of the cooling system during the months of June to September. First, ambient dry-bulb temperature and relative humidity data for each city were extracted using Meteonorm software. Then, the system performance was simulated using TRNSYS software, and parameters such as the inlet and outlet temperatures of the cooling tower, chiller power consumption, and the amount of evaporated water were obtained. The findings of this study can help HVAC designers select more efficient cooling systems based on geographical location, thereby reducing energy and water consumption.
