The structural model to explain the social physique anxiety on the Fear of Negative Evaluation and Interpretation Bias

Background and Aim: Cognitive theories of emotional disorders posit that data processing biases play a crucial role in the maintenance and possibly the development of mood and anxiety disorders. Examination of data processing biases in social physique anxiety individuals have demonstrated that they also show these Interpretation Bias and Fear of Negative Evaluation Methods: The research method in this research is correlation and type of path analysis studies. Statistical society includes athletic girls in sport clubs in Shiraz, Iran. ۲۰۰ girls were selected using available sampling method. Data were gathered through administration of Social Physique Anxiety Scale, Interpretation Questionnaire-Revised, and Brief Fear of Negative Evaluation Scale (BFNE-S). Data were analyzed using SPSS ۲۳ software. Results: The purpose of this study was to determine the mediator role of interpretation bias in the relationship between social physique anxiety and fear of negative evaluation in girls sport. Conclusion: variables of Fear of negative evaluation and interpretation Bias explained ۳۴ percent of the variance in social physique anxiety. As well as the indirect effect of fear of negative evaluation was statistically significant (p<۰.۰۰۱) on social physique anxiety. The structural equation modeling showed that the variable of interpretation Bias plays a mediating role between the of Fear of negative evaluation and social physique anxiety. These results suggest that Fear of negative evaluation not only is a predictor of social physique anxiety, but can also significantly influence interpretation Bias by the use of positive social physique anxiety in girls in sport clubs. The results of the present study support this hypothesis than a specific negative interpretation bias may be involved in the maintenance of social physique anxiety.
