چکیده مقاله:

Background and Aim: Having a child with a disability can affect the mental health of family members. Due to the important role of mothers in parenting, psychological problems in mothers of children with learning disabilities are very important and play an important role in the health of other family members and also the community. Methods: The research design was experimental with pretest-posttest and control group. The statistical population included all mothers who referred to educational and rehabilitation centers for learning difficulties in Mashhad in the academic year of ۲۰۱۹-۲۰۲۰. Thirty people were selected by cluster random sampling and were randomly divided into two experimental and control groups (۱۵ in each group); and the experimental group received acceptance and commitment based group therapy. The measurement tools of this study were Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (CERQ) and Cognitive Flexibility Inventory (CFI). Data were analyzed using univariate and multivariate analysis of covariance. Results The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of acceptance and commitment group therapy on cognitive emotion regulation and cognitive flexibility in mothers of children with specific learning disorders. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that acceptance and commitment therapy caused a significant difference in cognitive emotion regulation and cognitive flexibility between the experimental and control groups. According to the results of this study, acceptance and commitment based group therapy can be used as an effective method to improve cognitive emotion regulation and cognitive flexibility in mothers of children with specific learning disorders.
