Background and Aim: Teaching gifted students creative problem solving helps them confront life and work challenges more creatively and do not get frustrated and disappointed. Creative problem solving can be useful for all students, however since gifted students are national resources for change and excellence for every society, they need to practice productive thinking in producing different solutions and be able to choose the best solutions in confronting problems and challenges of the society. Methods: The design of the study was quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest and control group. Students were randomly assigned as experimental and control groups. The students' giftedness was screened by professors' candidacy and the Tehran Stanford-Binet test of intelligence (Afrooz & Hooman, ۱۹۹۶). The experiment group participated in the interpersonal creative problem solving program, and the control group did not receive any treatment. Torrance Test of Creative Thinking (Torrance, ۱۹۹۰) was used to evaluate creative thinking abilities of the participants. The obtained data were analyzed using Analysis of the Covariance. Results: The purpose of this study was to study the effectiveness of creative interpersonal training on creativity of the gifted students. Conclusion: The findings showed significant differences (p<۰/۰۱) between the experimental and the control group in all subscales of creativity. The effect size was ۰.۶۸۸ for fluency, ۰.۳۵۷ for flexibility, ۰.۳۷۲ for originality, and ۰.۶۷۹ for elaboration. At the end, applying creative interpersonal problem solving program for improving creativity in university gifted students was discussed. Further discussions, as well as suggestions for future research are presented.
