چکیده مقاله:
Background and Aim: The executive control ability -the ability to carry out goal-directed behavior using complex mental processes and cognitive abilities- is an important matter in cognitive assessments. Further, in workplaces like petrochemical industries that have processing technology and large amount of energy, executive control ability for improving cognitive performance is critical. Methods: The Stroop test has been used to report the neural correlates of executive control. The interference effect in classic Stroop test show the cognitive processes. Aforementioned processes overcome the conflict between tendency to name a word and response to color-naming. The Stroop were administered to ۴۰ male petrochemical control room operators. Demographic data were also collected by the questionnaire. Statistical analyses were performed using SPSS Version ۲۵.۰. Results: So this research was conducted to assess executive control capability among control room operators in a petrochemical industry. Conclusion: The result of Stroop test revealed that interference effect in control room operators were ۰.۴۳۷ ± ۰.۸۰۰. It should be noted that age (۴۱.۱۷ ±۶.۹۷) and work experience (۱۷.۰۳ ± ۶.۶۸) were significantly correlate with interference result (-۰.۳۵۴ and -۰.۴۹۴, respectively). Obviously, age significantly correlated with work experience (۰.۹۰۵). As previous studies shown, age can affect neural-cognitive tests; so the correlation between interference score and age (work experience, as well) were reasonable. Likewise, assessing and improving personnel executive control ability which is very important in processing industries - should be consider in such a sensitive workplace.
