Implicative analyses of phase changing materials for water treatment under thermosyphon loom

In this study, the use of thermosyphon water filtration technology powered by solar energy was suggested. The current research focuses on examining the system's performance when utilizing molten salt and water as heat transfer fluids. The chosen phase-changing materials are lithium carbonate and paraffin wax for which the mathematical model has been used to analyse the yielding through the respective phase-changing materials (PCM). It was found that the lithium carbonate performed better than the paraffin wax PCM, which produced the maximum temperature up to ۳۴۷°C, and reflected ۵۲% utilization still to be used for the projected PCM material under the specific operating conditions of this research work. When lithium carbonate and molten salt were selected as the heat transfer phase changing fluid, the maximum potable water yield rose by ۱۴.۲۸%. Additionally, the increase in temperatures was recorded as ۰.۴۲%, ۱.۸%, ۰.۵۸%, and ۰.۶% against the maximum temperatures of the base face, upper glaze area, foremost plate, and final plates, correspondingly for lithium carbonate in comparison to the paraffin wax PCM. Such a temperature increase at the plates (i.e., fins) of the system shows a proficiency for lithium carbonate based PCM to produce more vapour and, hence more condensate as a result of freshwater generation. Also, it highlights the practical implications, specifically for the application of better PCM integration, which not only enhances the water purification efficiency but also promotes the sustainability of the entire scheme.
